Glossary

This **Glossary** is a quick reference for the most important words and phrases from the content you've worked with in this module. The words are organized by category and in alphabetical order. There's also a summary of important Pinyin rules involved in this module. ## Greetings and Introductions - `你好 (nǐ hǎo)` – Hello - `您好 (nín hǎo)` – Hello - `你们好 (nǐ men hǎo)` – Hello everyone - `我是 (wǒ shì)` – I am...
## Nationalities - `中国人 (zhōng guó rén)` – Chinese - `新加坡人 (xīn jiā pō rén)` – Singaporean - `加拿大人 (jiā ná dà rén)` – Canadian
## Professions - `开发者 (kāi fā zhě)` – Developer - `设计师 (shè jì shī)` – Designer - `数据分析师 (shù jù fēn xī shī)` – Data analyst
## Pinyin ### Tone Sandhi When two third-tone syllables appear together, the first syllable becomes second tone and the second syllable stays third tone. You write the original tones, but pronounce them differently. **Rule**: 3rd Tone + 3rd Tone → 2nd Tone + 3rd Tone. For example: `你好 (nǐ hǎo)` is pronounced as `ní hǎo`. ### Neutral Tone The neutral tone is the fifth tone in Chinese, marked by no tone mark. It's pronounced with a light and short sound. For example, in `你们 (nǐ men)`, the syllable `men` is in neutral tone.
